Solar Inverters
Inverter types, sizing, brands and what to check before you buy.
There is no single best inverter. There is a best inverter for your loads, your outages and your plan for the grid. Answer five questions and you will find it.

Lists of best inverters usually rank brands. But a brand that is perfect for a flat with fans and lights is wrong for a house with two air conditioners. So start with your situation.
The five questions below take about ten minutes to answer. After that, the choice of type narrows to one or two, and the brand choice becomes a comparison of datasheets and service.
Write your answers down, then use the table that follows.
Long and frequent cuts point to a hybrid inverter with a battery. Short and rare cuts point to an on-grid system.
List fans, lights, fridge, router, TV and any air conditioner. The total decides the size.
A grid connection needs an inverter acceptable to K-Electric, and an application through a PPIB pre-qualified vendor.
Check your meter. A three-phase building needs a three-phase inverter.
Ask who repairs the brand in Karachi and how long it takes.
A starting point, not a final design.
| Situation | Best type to discuss | What to check first |
|---|---|---|
| Flat with fans, lights and fridge, long cuts | Small hybrid or backup-focused inverter with a battery | Battery pairing and cost |
| House with one or two ACs, long cuts | Medium hybrid with lithium battery | Surge rating and backup output |
| House with short cuts, high bill | On-grid inverter | Sanctioned load and roof |
| Shop open in daytime | On-grid inverter sized to day load | Phase and monitoring app |
| Factory or large shop | Three-phase string inverters | Maximum PV input and service |
| Place without reliable grid | Off-grid inverter with a battery bank | Battery size for every night |
Most disappointments come from these, not from a bad brand.
K-Electric asks for the inverter data sheet and the inverter settings on the vendor letterhead as part of an application. Not every model suits a grid application. Ask the PPIB pre-qualified vendor to confirm your model before you buy. We are not a PPIB pre-qualified vendor, but we can help you choose a model that fits.
