What this page is and is not

Saddar and Sher Shah come up often when buyers search for solar equipment in Karachi. We have not verified which shops there sell genuine, current stock, so we do not list shops or recommend any market.

Sher Shah is described on Wikipedia as a large hub for scrap and used parts. That is useful to know if you are looking at second-hand equipment, and it is a reason to be careful about anything sold without a box, an invoice or a warranty paper.

The checks below apply to any trader, in any market, on any road.

Market trader or installer

Neither is always better. They solve different problems.

Checks before you pay a trader

Do these in the shop, before any money changes hands.

  • Model code. Read it off the panel, the inverter and the box. All three should match.
  • Sealed boxes. Ask to see the unopened box with the maker's labels, not a loose unit.
  • Invoice. Get a proper invoice with the shop's name and address, the model and the serial numbers.
  • Warranty paper. Ask for the warranty card or document, not a photocopy of one.
  • Who honours the warranty. Ask whether the trader or the brand handles a claim, and get the answer written on the invoice.
  • Return rule. Ask what happens if a panel arrives cracked or an inverter is dead on arrival.

Warning signs in any market

A price far below every other quote. A refusal to give an invoice. Cash only with no receipt. No physical address you can visit later. Stock with no maker's labels, or with labels in a different language from the brand's usual market. Unbranded panels offered under a famous name. Any one of these is enough to stop and walk away.

A safer way to shop a market

If you decide to buy from a trader, this order protects you.

  1. 1

Decide the system on paper first

Know the panel watts, the inverter size and the battery type before you walk in. Our system calculator helps.

  2. 2

    Collect quotes in writing

Ask three traders for a written price on the same model. Verbal prices change.

  3. 3

Check the model against the datasheet

Find the manufacturer's datasheet online and compare it with the label.

  4. 4

    Pay in a traceable way

Use a method that leaves a record, and keep the receipt.

  5. 5

    Inspect on delivery

Open every box with the seller present, look for damage and note the serial numbers.

What the market does not give you

A market trader sells a part. Nobody in the sale designs the system, checks the roof, fits the structure or tests the string. If you are not an electrician, those are the steps where mistakes cost most.

If you want the equipment fitted and tested, ask for an itemised quote that includes installation. We sell and install ourselves, hand over warranty papers and cover all areas in Karachi.
