Solar Systems
System sizes, what a full quote includes and how to size from your bill.
Most Karachi homes land between 3 kW and 6 kW. This page shows what each size produces, what it can run, and what to check in the quote.

A system size is the total rating of the panels, in kilowatts. A bigger system makes more power, but it only saves money if you use that power or if the export rate is worth it. Under net billing, exports earn far less than the power you use yourself, so size for your own use.
The simplest way to find the size is to start from your bill. Divide the monthly units by 30 for daily units, then divide by about 4 to 5 units per kW per day. This is a commonly used planning figure, and your site decides the real output.
The table below gives the typical output of each size using that same planning figure.
These are complete installed systems. The final price depends on roof access, cable length and the brands you choose.
| Item | Detail | Price (PKR) |
|---|---|---|
| 3 kW system | About 6 panels of 585 W | Rs 475,000 floor-mounted / Rs 555,000 raised |
| 5 kW on-grid | About 9 panels of 585 W, no battery | Contact us for latest prices |
| 5 kW hybrid | About 9 panels, hybrid inverter and battery | Rs 575,000 floor-mounted / Rs 675,000 raised |
| 6 kW system | 10 or 11 panels of 585 W | Rs 775,000 floor-mounted / Rs 900,000 raised |

Output uses the planning range of 4 to 5 units per kW per day. Monthly figures are daily output times 30.
| System | Panels of 585 W | Daily output | Monthly output | Roof area |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3 kW | 6 | 12 to 15 units | 360 to 450 units | About 16 m² |
| 5 kW | 9 | 20 to 25 units | 600 to 750 units | About 23 m² |
| 6 kW | 10 or 11 | 24 to 30 units | 720 to 900 units | About 26 to 29 m² |
These are planning figures. Shading, tilt, dust and season change real output, and your sanctioned load limits the size you can connect to the grid.
Approximate running watts for common appliances. Read the label on yours, because models differ.
| Appliance | Approximate running power | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ceiling fan | 50 to 80 W | DC fans use less |
| LED bulb | 8 to 15 W | Low load |
| Refrigerator | 100 to 200 W running | Starts with a surge |
| Television | 60 to 150 W | Depends on size |
| 1.5 ton inverter AC | 800 to 1,500 W | Varies with load and model |
| 1.5 ton fixed-speed AC | 1,500 to 2,000 W | Larger start-up surge |
A 3 kW system suits fans, lights, fridge and one inverter AC by day. A 5 to 6 kW system suits two inverter ACs by day, if the inverter and your sanctioned load allow it.

On-grid systems cost less and suit homes with short outages. Hybrid systems add a battery and cost more. Use your outage hours to choose. Our hybrid inverter guide and the lithium battery page explain the extra parts. We give you an itemised quote for both options so you can compare.
K-Electric ties the grid-connected system to the sanctioned load, and the connected load must match the sanctioned load before an application is processed. Check the sanctioned load on your bill before choosing the size.
Grid applications go through a PPIB pre-qualified vendor. We are not one, so we install the system and you apply through a vendor. Our K-Electric guide explains the steps.

A commonly used planning figure is 4 to 5 units per kW per day, so about 20 to 25 units. Actual output depends on shading, tilt, dust and season.
A 3 kW system can run one inverter AC by day with a few fans and lights, depending on the inverter and the AC. Check the AC label and ask for a site survey.
Not if you use the power. A big house with two ACs may use it fully. Check your bill and your sanctioned load first.
Yes. We supply and install 3 kW, 5 kW and 6 kW systems and larger ones.
